Needs to have a sauna and gym... any recommendations? Staying near Bang Rak now but it's a busy area for cars and tons of dust - also quite loud at night as there's a main artery being the sapan taksin bridge. Budget 16-25k.

Cheers for the recommendations!

ngl the sauna thing is prob the hardest filter at that budget. most condos in the 16-25k range either have a tiny steam room or call the jacuzzi a sauna which it isn't. check out The Lofts Sathorn on Sathorn Soi 10, it's about 6 mins to Lumpini on a bike and they actually have a proper dry sauna with a cold plunge which is rare for the price. the gym is small but has a squat rack and decent dumbells up to 30kg. only downside is the pool is kinda small but that's not on your list anyway.

Lumpini is a solid choice if you want quieter streets and easier park access. For that budget with sauna and gym, look at The Park or The Benjamas on Soi Saladaeng 1. Both are about a 3-4 minute motorbike ride from the park entrance, and the saunas are clean but nothing fancy. The noise difference from Bang Rak is night and day - you'll actually hear birds in the morning instead of traffic.

fwiw, the sauna situation in that price range is kinda hit or miss. some of the newer builds like Ideo Q Sathorn have a proper dry sauna not just a steam room, and it's about 4 mins from Lumpini on a bike. the gym there is decent too with actual weights. just check if the unit faces the main road cause the Sathorn traffic can still be noisy if you're on a low floor.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
