Where to buy Indian clubs (mace) in Bangkok for exercise?

I can find online but not sure what weight to start with. They look like short baseball bats and come in 1, 2, 3, and 5 kg weights. I can find online but not sure what weight to start with. They look like short baseball bats and come in 1, 2, 3, and 5 kg weights.

The 2kg steel mace from Lazada is the right call for starting out, but if you want to feel the weight before buying, head to a CrossFit box. Most of them around Thong Lo or Ekkamai keep a mace or two for warm-ups, and coaches are usually happy to let you swing one during an open gym hour. I'd skip the wooden clubs from Pratunam for mace work, they're better for shoulder prehab and feel completely different in the 360.

One thing nobody mentioned: check the ceiling height at home. A 2kg mace needs about 2.5 meters of clearance for the overhead swing, and plenty of Bangkok condos have low false ceilings that will take a chunk out of the wall. If you're in a tight space, do the pendulum and inside circle only until you can get to a park or gym. Also, the cheap steel ones on Lazada often have a slick handle, so grab a roll of athletic tape and wrap it yourself, it'll save your grip during the humid season.

u can prob skip buying entirely for the first month. hit up the outdoor gym at santiphap park near victory monument, there's a small group that does mace and club work around 6pm most weekdays. they rotate gear and always have a spare 2kg or 3kg u can borrow while you figure out what feels right. way cheaper than a mistake.

for actual buying, the steel ones on shopee are the same as lazada but sometimes 50 baht cheaper with flash sales. just search "macebell steel" and sort by rating, the ones with over 1000 reviews are safe. one thing nobody mentioned: the handle length matters more than weight. most cheap ones are 40cm which is short for taller guys, look for 50cm+ if u're over 175cm, it changes the leverage a lot.

if ur just starting and worried about form, grab a 3kg from md fitness on rama 9 road, theyre a proper strength equipment shop and u can actually swing it in their showroom before buying. way better than guessing online. 2kg is fine if ur shoulders are weak but 3kg teaches u better control, u stop muscling it and start using ur hips. also the 5kg is a trap, it looks cool but u'll hate ur elbows.

for the ceiling thing, if ur in a condo with low ceilings, skip the overhead 360 entirely and do side swings or front raises. or just go to lumpini park at 6am, tons of open space and nobody stares. i personally use a 2kg steel from lazada with a tennis racket grip wrap, cost me like 400 baht total and it's held up for a year of daily swings.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
