How Much Monthly Pay Should I Ask for Agoda? (Moving to Bangkok)

Hey everyone!

I've been offered the role of a BI Developer at Agoda in Bangkok, and I'm trying to figure out how much I should ask for in terms of salary, especially since the role requires me to relocate. I'm a 25-year-old guy from India, currently single, and want to maintain a decent standard of living while saving a good chunk of money.

A bit of context:

Right now, I save about 40,000 - 42,000 THB per month. I'd love to continue saving at this rate while living in Bangkok.

A few questions:

What are some good areas to live in Bangkok that have affordable, fully furnished apartments, are close to the Agoda office, and are connected well to public transport? I'm aiming for a balance between cheap rent but also convenience to commute to work and other spots in the city.

What's the average cost of living? Could you help break down the monthly costs for:

Rent (including deposits) Electricity, water, and internet Groceries Daily commuting Leisure and entertainment

I'd really appreciate insights from anyone who's working or living in Bangkok. I want to make sure I have a solid idea of how much I'll need to ask for so I can still save and live comfortably.

Thanks a ton for your advice folks!!

For a BI developer role at Agoda with relocation from India, you should aim for 110-130k THB. The tax rate here is progressive, so at 120k you'll take home around 105k after deductions. Agoda's Sathorn office is at the Chong Nonsi BTS, so you can go further south on the Silom line to Talat Phlu or Wutthakat where studios go for 7-9k and the ride is 15 minutes.

A few costs that add up: the BTS is about 50-60 baht per ride with your Rabbit card, so budget 2,500 if you go in every day. Your electricity will spike in April and May when you need AC at night, expect 2-3k during those months but closer to 1k in the cooler season. Thai street food at the office canteen runs 50-80 baht for lunch, but if you want Western food or sit-down restaurants on weekends, budget another 3-4k.

For housing, look at condo buildings along the BTS extension rather than the inner Sukhumvit area. The Life Sathorn Sierra or The Metroluxe near Talat Phlu have pools and gyms included, studios for 8-10k. You'll save the 4-5k difference versus living in Thong Lo, and your commute is actually faster since you're going against traffic. Just make

honestly for Agoda BI dev with relocation you should be aiming for 100-120k THB minimum. their office is on Sathorn so look at places along the BTS Silom line or MRT blue line. Thong Lo and Ekkamai are popular but overpriced imo, try On Nut or Phra Khanong for better value like 12-15k for a decent studio

living costs here are pretty manageable. rent is your biggest hit, expect 10-15k for something furnished near a BTS station. utilities maybe 2-3k, internet 600-800 baht. groceries if you cook some meals prob 5-6k, eating out thai food is cheap like 50-100 baht per meal. daily commute on BTS will be 3-4k if you go every day

you can save 40k+ easily on 100k salary if you dont go wild on weekends. but honestly ask for 120k since they know you're relocating and that gives you room to negotiate down. most indian expats I know at agoda live around Phra Khanong or Bang Na and save around that range

one thing nobody mentioned is that agoda's sathorn office is right near chong nonsi bts, so you can live further out on the silom line extension like wongwian yai or talat phlu for way cheaper rent like 8-10k for a decent furnished place. your commute is like 20 mins tops and you're not stuck in traffic

for utilities, if you get a condo with a smart meter and use ac sparingly it's closer to 1.5k a month not 3k. and look into true or ais fiber for internet, it's like 500-700 baht for 300mbps which is fine for work from home days

big thing nobody's saying is that agoda usually offers a relocation bonus or housing allowance if you push for it. ask for that separately from salary, like 2 months rent covered upfront. that alone saves you the deposit hit which can be 2 months rent plus one month upfront. your take home after thai tax at 100k is around 88k, so 40k savings is very doable if you keep rent under 12k and don't go clubbing every weekend

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
