To Non-Thai people, how did you land a job in Thailand?

For you to land a job in Thailand, how much of effort, luck, and skills was required?

Also, how much time did it take from applying to getting the job?

Teaching English was my route in, which is the most common path for non-Thai people without specialized skills. I did a TEFL course in Chiang Mai for a month, then walked into about ten schools near On Nut with my certificate and got three offers within a week. The whole process from landing to working took maybe six weeks, but the pay is terrible compared to what you'd make back home. Most people treat it as a visa gig while they build something else on the side.

I came in on a digital nomad visa first, then switched to a work permit once I found a company willing to sponsor. The key was networking in person, not just applying online. I spent about three months going to co-working events and meetups around Sukhumvit before I got a referral that actually led to an offer. Skills mattered more than luck for me because I had a niche in digital marketing for Thai e-commerce platforms, which most locals weren't experienced with yet.

my route was through a Thai partner visa actually, which bypasses the whole sponsorship headache. i found a job at a small marketing agency near Ari just by walking in and dropping off my portfolio, no online apps. took maybe 3 weeks from that first visit to signing a contract, but most of that was waiting for the work permit paperwork. if you don't have the visa thing sorted already, expect companies to drag their feet for months cause they dont want to pay the fees.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
