Going to Bangkok at the end of Nov/early Dec for a few days (3-4) with a group of friends (6 of us), coming from the UK.

I need help figuring out where to stay and how to find/rent a place.

I've read that Sukhumvit is the ideal location and that Airbnb is illegal for stays of less than a month.

Ideally, we want to stay in accommodation together, whether it's a villa or apartment (preferably serviced).

Is it possible to rent a serviced apartment for such a short time? If so, how do I go about finding one?

Basically, I need help figuring out how to get a place to stay that isn't a hotel (but feel free to convince me otherwise).

Thanks!

honestly for 6 people and 3-4 nights, two hotel rooms will be way less stressful than trying to find a serviced apartment that takes short stays. most of the big ones along sukhumvit like somerset lake point or ascott sathorn do have two-bedroom units but they usually want a month minimum unless you book through a hotel platform.

check out the residence by bangkok marriott on sukhumvit soi 2, they have two-bedroom suites with a kitchen and living room that sleep 5-6 and let you book per night. another option is oakwood residence sukhumvit 24, same deal with short stays and a pool on the roof. booking directly through their site or agoda tends to be cheaper than airbnb anyway for this type of thing.

for location, sukhumvit between asok and thong lo is fine for tourists but nana and soi 11 can get loud at night with the bars. if your group wants more chill vibes with good food, look at phra khanong or ekkamai, still on the bts line and you'll get more space for the same price. just filter for "serviced residence" on booking.com and check the room capacity before you book.

You're overthinking the Airbnb thing for a group your size. Two hotel suites or adjoining rooms will actually work better than hunting down a short-term serviced apartment that may or may not let you check in for 4 nights.

Look at the Landmark on Sukhumvit Soi 4 or the JW Marriott on Soi 2. Both have two-bedroom suites that sleep 4-5, and you can add a rollaway or book a single room next door for the sixth person. The Landmark's pool area is decent and you're right by Nana BTS.

If you really want that apartment feel, check out the Marriott Executive Apartments on Sathorn. They do nightly rates on two-bedroom units with full kitchens and a washing machine, which is handy for a group. Sukhumvit Sathorn is a 10-minute taxi from Sukhumvit proper but quieter and you'll get more square footage for the same price as a basic hotel room in Asok.

6 people in a serviced apartment for 3-4 nights is doable but you're right that Airbnb is a no-go for short stays legally. Most serviced apartments here work on monthly contracts but some will do short term if you ask directly, especially the bigger ones like Somerset or Ascott properties along Sukhumvit.

Honestly for a group that size I'd look at booking two connecting hotel rooms or a suite setup instead. Fraser Suites on Sukhumvit Soi 11 has two-bedroom apartments with a living area and kitchenette, and they'll let you book for just a few nights no problem. Way less hassle than trying to negotiate with serviced apartment blocks that usually want a 30-day minimum.

Another option is booking through a local agency like Haven't Found or Urban Sheltor, they list short-term serviced apartments that aren't on the big booking sites. Just google "serviced apartment Bangkok short stay" and filter for 2-bedroom units. Sukhumvit is fine but honestly for a group of 6 you might find better value around Thong Lo or Ekkamai, slightly less touristy but still got the BTS and way more space for your money.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
