Where to find USA hair products?

Relatively new to Bangkok and looked in all the typical supermarkets / pharmacies - but having no luck finding some of the better brands of shampoo / conditioner one would find in the states.

Things like bed-head, phyto or deva curl.

I'm hoping someone has a lead on a specialty shop where some of these products are imported and can be found.

honestly skip the malls for this, the import markup is brutal. there's a vietnamese-run beauty supply place on the ground floor of platinum fashion mall, near the back corner, that gets random us salon stock cheaper than central chidlom. found bed head there a few times but it's a treasure hunt, no guarantee what's on the shelf.

if you're near thong lo, there's a tiny shop called hair factory on soi 55 that does a lot of american brands, mostly for local stylists so they don't advertise much. deva curl pops up there sometimes but sells fast. price is still higher than us but not double like some spots.

for phyto specifically, the official thai distributor has a line at gourmet market in emquartier, it's tucked by the skincare section, not with the regular shampoo. selection's small but it's legit, not parallel import.

If you're near Siam, try the Beauty Buffet outlet at Siam Square Soi 4, they carry a rotating shelf of imported salon stuff, mostly US and Korean. I've seen Bed Head there a few times, and they're legit, not the shady parallel import junk you find in some stalls.

For DevaCurl specifically, your best bet is actually the hair salon on the 5th floor of Siam Paragon called "Hair by W." They use it in their services and will sell you a bottle if you ask, though they don't display it. You'll pay closer to 1,800 baht for a 12oz which is steep, but at least you know it's real.

One thing nobody mentioned: check the Japanese stores. Don Quijote at Thong Lo has a surprisingly good international hair care section, they import from the US and Europe alongside their Japanese stuff. It's cheaper than Central Chidlom and they restock every couple weeks, so if you catch it right after a shipment you'll find things like Phyto and even some niche brands like Olaplex.

check evandandoy or one of the big beauty supply spots near siam square, they stock a lot of the salon brands us folks take for granted. deva curl specifically is hit or miss though, i've seen it at a couple of places on sukhumvit soi 33 but they mark it up like crazy, like double the us price. honestly your best bet is the online route, lazada and shopee have official stores for some of these, just search the brand name and filter for "mall" sellers to avoid fakes. if u really need it in hand fast, there's a small shop on the 4th floor of central chidlom that carries phyto and a few others, but the selection rotates.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
