Chon Buri Cafe -old cemetery?

There is the unique cafe tranformed from the cemetery there. Has anyone been there? Any comments? There is the unique cafe tranformed from the cemetery there. Has anyone been there? Any comments?

You're thinking of Chon Buri Cafe, which is in Bang Lamung district, not far from Pattaya. The old cemetery is actually Wat Tham Sua's old burial ground, and the cafe sits right on the edge of it. It's a bit kitschy with the skull decor and coffin tables, but the coffee is decent and the lychee soda is refreshing on a hot day. I'd go early morning or late afternoon because the place gets packed with Instagram crowds around midday.

I live just a few blocks from there and I've been a handful of times. The coffee is fine but honestly the real draw is the atmosphere, especially at dusk when the old cemetery grounds get a bit moody. They do a good iced matcha latte and the coconut cake is homemade and actually pretty solid. Just don't go expecting anything spooky, it's more like a themed garden cafe with a cemetery backdrop.

honestly the food is better than you'd expect from a gimmick place, the khao soi is legit and they do this tom yum pasta that actually works. parking is a nightmare on weekends tho, I'd take a motorbike or grab if you're coming from Pattaya. also heads up they close kinda early around 6pm so don't show up at night expecting ghost vibes or anything

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
