Any hostels that are more geared towards people aged over 30?

I've been staying mostly in private rooms in guesthouses. But I like the idea of meeting more people and saving money by staying in dorm rooms.

I was a backpacker here before about 12 years ago and all my favorite hostels from back then are permanently closed sadly.

I just want to avoid party hostels that are full of loud 18 year old gap year students but love to meet relaxed chill solo travelers.

Any recommendations welcome. Looking for chill, quiet, spacious hostels. Bonus points for being close to a 7-11 or a nice rooftop/balcony to enjoy a smoke :-)

(We Bangkok hostel in Sathorn used have all of the good checkmarks but it's closed sadly)

Check out the Yard Hostel in Ari. It's not a party spot, it's more of a laid-back garden vibe with a cafe and a co-working space downstairs. The dorms are capsule-style so you get some privacy, and the guests tend to be older, a lot of digital nomads and travelers in their 30s. There's a 7-11 about a two-minute walk away and the Ari BTS station is right there, so you can easily get to places like Chatuchak or into the center without being in the middle of the chaos. The rooftop area is small but fine for a smoke, and the whole area is full of good local restaurants and bars that aren't touristy.

honestly i'd skip khao san entirely for what you're looking for. check out the hostel tall awning in silom, it's got this quiet hidden rooftop garden where people actually hang out and chat instead of just getting wasted. the crowd there is mostly late 20s to 40s, a lot of people working remotely or doing longer trips. there's a 7-11 literally across the street and the whole silom area has way more chill bars and street food than the backpacker ghetto.

another option nobody's mentioned yet is the bed station hostel in sukhumvit. it's closer to the train and the dorms are proper capsule style with thick curtains so you actually get sleep. the common area is more of a coworking vibe than a party scene, and i've met some solid solo travelers in their 30s there just reading or having a quiet beer. there's a 7-11 on the ground floor of the building and the rooftop is small but decent for a smoke. just avoid the one on khao san road, that branch is a different story entirely.

I'd check out NapPark Hostel on Khao San Road, it's been around forever and tends to attract a slightly older crowd than the newer party spots. Not super quiet but way more chill than the real wild ones around there, and there's a 7-11 right downstairs

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
