the sportsman bar on soi 13 has a decent one every tuesday night, starts around 8. it's mostly expats so the questions lean western but there's usually a local round thrown in. beers are reasonable at like 120 baht a pint
honestly the best one no one talks about is at the witch's tavern on sukhumvit 23, tuesdays at 8. it's in a tiny soi off soi 23 so easy to miss but the host is a british guy who actually writes his own questions instead of pulling them off the internet. prizes are just bar tabs but the crowd is a good mix of locals and expats who take it seriously enough to be fun but not sweaty.
if you're free on a thursday, check out the round table at the old english pub on silom soi 4. it's a bit more lowkey and the questions can be oddly specific but they do a themed round every week which keeps it fresh. beers are like 150 baht a pint so not the cheapest but the company is solid.
u being a quiz runner, you'd prob enjoy the one at the duke more than the others for the structure, the league table thing is real and they track scores month to month. just get there early if you want a seat near the screen
loudly's in silom does one on wednesdays i think, it's more of a mixed crowd with some thais and tourists. the questions can be a bit random but they've got good food and the beer is cold. if you're looking for a proper challenge the one at the duke on ekkamai is pretty tough, they actually have a league table and everything. i'd skip the one at the pub on khao san, it's all backpackers who've been drinking since noon so the vibe is chaos not competition
best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026
yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
