Best arcades and places to play claw machines?

My teenager daughter loves them. Any suggestions? Is there anything similar to what they have in Japan? My teenager daughter loves them. Any suggestions? Is there anything similar to what they have in Japan?

a bit of a drive but Seacon Square has a whole floor called "Zone D" that's basically a retro arcade paradise, they've got a dedicated claw machine section with maybe 15-20 machines and the prices are still 10 baht for most. the prizes lean more toward generic stuffed animals than branded stuff but the machines feel way less rigged than the mall ones. plus the whole place has that 90s mall vibe that's kind of charming in a worn-down way

Mega Plaza is the obvious answer and it's good, but if your daughter wants something that feels closer to a Japanese game center experience, check out the basement floor of Siam Paragon. There's a spot called Fun Planet that has a whole row of UFO catchers with imported plushies, mostly Sanrio and Pokemon stuff. It's pricier than Mega Plaza, like 30-40 baht a go, but the machines feel more consistent and less rigged.

Another option that's more off the beaten path is the arcade area on the 5th floor of CentralWorld near the ice rink. They have a section of claw machines that nobody seems to know about, so the prizes are usually well-stocked and the claws feel fairer. Just avoid weekends unless you like fighting through crowds.

honestly for claw machines specifically, check out Mega Plaza in Chinatown. it's a 5-floor toy and hobby mall and the top floors are packed with those machines, lots of anime and plush prizes similar to what you'd find in Japan. not quite as polished as a Taito Station but the selection is solid and prices are reasonable like 10-20 baht per play.

if she wants more of a full arcade vibe, there's a place called Play More in Siam Square, it's got a mix of newer rhythm games and older cabinets. they have a few claw machines too but not the main draw. for pure claw machine action, Mega Plaza is your best bet, just go on a weekday afternoon when it's less crowded

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
