Hello,

I am looking to buy a thai Garuda and Ganesh bronze statues, the medium sized one, weighing about 4kg.

I can find some on Etsy and Ebay but they are very overpriced. I think I paid about 3000-4000 THB for them some years ago, each.

Anyone know which foundry make these in Bangkok?

The foundries themselves are mostly out past Nonthaburi, not in the tourist areas. There's a cluster along Bang Kruai-Sai Noi road that supplies most of the Chatuchak bronze vendors. You won't find a storefront, but if you ask at the bigger stalls in section 24 they'll sometimes give you the workshop contact if you're buying a few pieces. The pricing you remember is still doable for the 4kg size, just expect to pay cash and pick up yourself.

tbh you might have better luck going directly to the foundries in the old city area around Ban Bat. thats where most of those bronze guys source from, theyre small family workshops tucked between the temples. i got a 3kg Ganesh there for 2500 baht last year, no haggling needed. just walk down Soi Ban Bat after 10am and youll hear the hammering.

honestly i'd skip the shops inside the main market and head to the back area near section 26, there's a few bigger stalls that do wholesale and theyre prob the ones supplying the smaller vendors. they wont haggle much but youll get closer to that 3000-4000 range for a 4kg piece. just bring cash

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
