Where's a great place in Bangkok to enjoy live acoustic music - things like jazz/cover artists/singer-songwriters etc.

A place where you can just sit and chill and listen to music with a few snacks and drinks, no drunk idiots, no dancing, no huge crowds

I enjoy this but have never found a place in Bangkok. I usually resort to just sitting outside MBK and listening to the buskers all evening.

Have you tried Tep Bar on Soi Nana? It's not strictly jazz but they do traditional Thai folk music with a live band playing old instruments like the saw duang. It's a small wooden house that feels like someone's converted family home, and the crowd is usually people who are there to listen and sip on their rum-based drinks. The snacks are pretty good too, mostly Thai finger food like fried pork skewers. It's a different vibe from the jazz clubs but the same "sit and actually listen" atmosphere you're after.

You might like The Living Room at the Marriott on Sukhumvit 57. It's a hotel jazz bar but not in a stuffy way - the musicians are usually top-tier session players from Bangkok's jazz scene and the sound system is excellent. The seats are spaced out so you're not crammed in, and the crowd is mostly hotel guests and couples who keep to themselves. A bit pricier at around 400-500 baht per drink, but no cover charge and the small plates are actually decent.

honestly for that vibe you gotta check out Saxophone Pub & Restaurant near Victory Monument. it's been around forever and has that dim-lit jazz club feel where people actually listen to the music instead of yelling over it. they do live jazz every night, mostly Thai jazz bands who are legit good, and the cover charge is like 300 baht which includes a drink. food's decent too but you're really there for the music

if you want something smaller and more acoustic, Brown Sugar on Soi Sarasin is a solid bet - it's near Lumphini Park so the area is pretty chill. they have live jazz/blues most nights and the crowd is mostly older locals and expats who actually care about the music. drinks are a bit pricier than street stalls but you won't get any drunk idiots there

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
