How to get to Ko Kret from Sathorn Pier by public ferry as a day trip?

Take the Sathorn Pier express boat north to Wat Sanam Nuea Pier (Nonthaburi Pier), that's about 45 minutes and costs 20 baht. From there, walk 10 minutes to Pak Kret Pier and catch the cross-river ferry for 5 baht to Ko Kret. I'd go on a weekend when the pottery market is active, the island is quiet on weekdays.

The express boat from Sathorn to Nonthaburi is the most direct, but if you want a more scenic route you can hop on the orange flag boat instead of the regular express. It goes all the way up to Pak Kret and stops at fewer piers, so it's about 35 minutes and still 20 baht. From Pak Kret Pier you just walk across the street to the little ferry that takes you to the island. I'd bring cash for the market since most vendors there don't take cards, and try the tod mun pla (fish cakes) from the stall near the temple entrance, they're better than the ones at the main market area.

Another option is to take the Chao Phraya tourist boat from Sathorn to Nonthaburi, it stops at most major piers and costs 60 baht for the whole trip. Get off at Nonthaburi Pier (N30), then walk to the left along the river for about 200 meters to find the Pak Kret ferry. The tourist boat runs every 30 minutes and is more comfortable than the express, but it does take a bit longer. I usually stop at the Ko Kret side for khao lam and the little coconut pancakes at the market.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
