You've got two main options depending on where you'll be traveling most. The BTS system uses a Rabbit Card, which you can pick up at any BTS station ticket booth for a 100 baht deposit plus whatever you want to load on it. For the MRT, you need a separate card called a Mangmoom Card, available at MRT station counters and it costs the same 100 baht deposit. If you're only here for a short visit, the single-journey tokens work fine and save you the deposit hassle.

Both cards are pretty easy to get, but my advice is to just use the Rabbit card if you're mainly on the BTS. The deposit is refundable at the end, though you have to go to a specific counter at places like Siam or Mo Chit to get your money back. For the MRT, the Mangmoom card is fine but the single trip tokens don't take much longer and you skip the deposit. If you're staying a month or more, the Rabbit card is worth it for the convenience of tapping through and not fumbling for change.

honestly just grab a Rabbit card if you're mostly on the BTS, you can get it at any station counter and it works for some 7-Elevens too. MRT has its own card but if you're lazy you can just use the app on your phone for the blue line now, way less hassle

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
