Where can I get the most authentic Thai eating experience?

Visiting Bangkok on this week and would like to eat as locally as possible. TYIA πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ Visiting Bangkok on this week and would like to eat as locally as possible. TYIA πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

honestly just find a soi with a bunch of plastic tables and a lady with a wok, that's the real deal. but if you want a specific spot, try jay fai's khao tom pla khao for the full local vibe without the tourist madness. the crab omelette there is famous but the real locals go for the rice soup

ngl the best local experience is just walking into a suan lum night bazaar type spot or any soi with a bunch of old ladies frying stuff. but if you want something specific, hit up the food court at bangkok's centralworld mall, not the fancy ones but the one on the 7th floor called "food park" or whatever. it's got stalls with real isaan food like som tam and larb that cost like 40 baht and you'll see office workers eating there during lunch rush, not tourists. also the khao man gai at "kaiton pratunam" is legendary, it's that chicken rice place near the platinum mall, just follow the line of locals waiting for a seat around 11am.

skip the tourist trap spots near khao san road tbh, head over to yaowarat (chinatown) around 6pm when the stalls pop up on trok san chao or yaowarat road itself. grab a plate of guay jub from nai ek roll noodles, it's that peppery pork roll soup with crispy wonton skins and they've been doing it for like 40 years, costs maybe 60 baht and you'll be sitting elbow to elbow with locals who don't speak english

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
