If you want to get out of the tourist zone entirely, try Go Bangkok Tours. They run a route through Thonburi that crosses the river by ferry and goes past the little canal communities along Bangkok Noi. The guide I had pointed out the old wooden houses and a temple where they do the floating market thing on weekends, but without the crowds. It's about 1,000 baht for a full morning and they keep the group under eight people so you're not stuck waiting at every intersection.

Co van Kessel is the most well-known one and they do a solid job with the old town route. they take you through Talat Noi and the flower market which is fun but can get a bit chaotic on a bike

If you want something a bit more chill, check out Bangkok Bike Riders. they do a morning ride through Bang Krachao which is basically a jungle island across the river. feels totally different from the city. about 900 baht for a half day and they provide water and snacks

honestly if you're only here 5 days, pick the old town one since you'll see a lot of landmarks in one go. just watch out for the soi dogs near the temples

The other suggestions are good but I'd add Velo Thailand to the list. They do a nighttime ride through the old city that's worth considering since the heat is less brutal and the temples look great lit up. It's around 1200 baht for about 4 hours including dinner at a local spot near the river that most tourists miss.

If you go with Co van Kessel, ask for the early morning slot. I've done both and the 6am start means way less traffic through Phra Athit and you get to see the monks getting alms along the street. The afternoon rides get stuck in the same traffic as everyone else.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
