Will Thai Baht go up or down in 1 or 2 months ?

It's really surprising that the currency is getting stronger during this political time. What is your take on this ?? It's really surprising that the currency is getting stronger during this political time. What is your take on this ??

yeah politics here barely moves the baht, it's all about exports and the current account. we're sitting on huge foreign reserves and the tourism rebound is still pushing dollars in, so even with the protest noise the fundamentals stay solid. the central bank's been fine letting it appreciate too, since it helps with imported oil prices. if you're holding cash for a trip, maybe wait a week or two, but don't overthink it, the swings are usually small unless the fed does something wild. for exchanging, the airport booths are a rip-off, hit up the yellow superrich near asok or the ones in siam square, they're pretty consistent.

honestly the baht's just doing its own thing rn, tourism money flowing in hard and the central bank's not in a rush to cut rates so that's propping it up. political noise here rarely moves the currency like people think, it's all about the trade surplus and foreign cash. if u need to exchange soon i'd just do it in chunks, try superrich if ur near bts chit lom, their rates beat the banks by a bit. nobody can call it 2 months out, but the trend's been up since mid year so don't bet against it lightly.

Politics here is mostly noise when it comes to the baht, the real driver is the current account and the central bank's patience. We've got a fat trade surplus from electronics and food exports, plus the tourism numbers keep beating expectations, so that's a steady inflow of dollars. The Bank of Thailand has also been happy to let it appreciate a bit since it softens the blow of imported energy costs, even with the political circus running in the background.

For the next month or two, the wildcard is really the Fed. If US rate cuts get priced in harder, the baht could test 32.5 to the dollar, but if inflation there surprises, we're looking at a pullback to 34.5. Honestly, the local headlines won't move it much unless there's a coup or something that shuts down the airports. If you're exchanging, the green Superrich kiosk at CentralWorld is my go-to, the queue moves fast and their rates are usually a few satang better than the ones at Asok. I'd do half your money now and half in two weeks, just to smooth out the swings.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
