A few years and a few visits ago I was taken by my local host to a BKK mall restaurant, and was served this yummi dish - chicken breast chuncks wrapped in Pandan leaves. Delicious!

I wasn't able to find it since.

Any advise?

honestly surprised no one mentioned the street food angle yet. head to sukhumvit soi 38 after dark, there's a lady with a cart near the 7-eleven who does it perfectly, about 60 baht for 5 pieces. her marinade has a bit more white pepper than the mall versions, which i prefer.

also, if you're ever near on nut, the food market at lotus's has a stall that does a mean version with a side of that sweet dark soy dipping sauce. just make sure to go before 8pm or they sell out.

if you're okay with a bit of a walk, try the food court at emquartier's basement level, the one near the gourmet market. they have a stall that does gai hor bai toey fresh to order, it's like 80 baht for a decent portion. also, the bbq plaza chain does a solid version if you're lazy and just want it delivered

oh man, gai hor bai toey is the best. honestly, you can find it at pretty much any upscale food court here, like at Siam Paragon or CentralWorld's basement floors. but if you want it done real good, check out the restaurant called "Baan Khanitha" or "Savoey" - they both do an amazing version and it's not too pricey for the quality.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
