congrats on one year, that's a solid milestone in this city. since you're going solo and into cafes, hit up the area around nana (the original one in ratanakosin, not the plaza). there's a tiny spot called hoom milk bar that does a killer thai tea latte and you can sit on a cushion by the window watching the old city go by. after that, walk over to talat noi for some proper old-school soi wandering, feels like a different world from sukhumvit. grab some khao tom at jay khun yai if you're hungry, it's cheap and they're used to solo diners

I'd say skip the elephant pants and treat yourself to a nice solo dinner at Sorn, but you'd need a reservation months ahead. For something more casual, try the food court at Samyan Mitrtown, it's got great solo seating and you can people-watch while eating.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
