Hey guys, Want to take my girlfriend to a nice date - mainly cocktails and nice food with a good view. She is vegeterian, and we live near Thonglor.

Can you recommend a cool bar or rooftop that is vegeterian friendly around and is not too noisy?

Thanks!

tbh for a quieter veg-friendly date spot near Thonglor I'd look at The Loft at Waldorf or the rooftop at Sindhorn Midtown, but honestly the one that surprises people is the roof at Novotel Sukhumvit 20, they do a decent veg menu if u ask and it's chill on weeknights. def call ahead about the vegetarian thing tho, most places say yes but the kitchen needs a heads up

if u want to stay close to thonglor, check out palette at hotel indigo on sukhumvit 11. not a sky-high rooftop but a rooftop garden vibe, super quiet, & the kitchen will do veg versions of most of the menu if u just ask, their mushroom truffle flatbread & the beet tartare are legit. cocktails are solid & its like a 10 min ride from thonglor, way less hassle than trekking across town. only thing is it closes around midnight so not a late night spot

Have you looked at Red Sky at Centara Grand? Not the most romantic name but the 55th floor terrace is quieter than most Sukhumvit rooftops on weeknights, and their kitchen actually understands vegetarian, not just "we remove the meat." The truffle risotto and the grilled halloumi plate are both veg and solid. From Thonglor take the BTS to Siam then walk through CentralWorld, about 25 mins door to door, and book the 6:30 slot so you catch the sunset before the after-work crowd rolls in.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
