Can condos be rented on a nightly basis like hotels?

Ive heard the renting market is much different than in the US. Do condos usually allow short term stays like just a few nights? Ive heard the renting market is much different than in the US. Do condos usually allow short term stays like just a few nights?

It really depends on the building. Some condos in places like Sukhumvit or Silom are set up for short stays and you'll see them listed on Airbnb or Booking.com, but plenty of older buildings or stricter ones have a minimum 30-day lease rule and the juristic office will actually fine the owner if they catch you doing nightly rentals. If you're only staying a few nights, you're usually better off with a serviced apartment or a hotel since the nightly condo rate often ends up being similar anyway once you factor in cleaning fees and the hassle of coordinating a key handoff.

Yeah you can find condos on Airbnb and similar sites that rent by the night. Just check the building rules first because some have restrictions on stays under 30 days.

oh for fucks sake did u even look at a map of bangkok before posting this. of course condos rent by the night theres like a thousand of them on booking.com right now. just dont expect it to be cheap like a hotel and dont get caught trying to check in after midnight

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
