If anybody is interested in getting their hair cut or styled, kindly feel free to reach out! I don't plan to charge any money for the haircut, just want to meet some interesting people and learn about their culture and choices. I usually prefer doing shorter hairstyles so if anybody wants to try a bob or a pixie or get their short hair trimmed, please do contact. Thanks in advance

honestly this sounds like a cool way to meet people. if u end up around ari or thonglor, theres a good mix of locals and expats who might be down. just a heads up, some salons here charge like 300-500 baht for a basic wash & cut so offering it for free is pretty generous

might wanna post in some facebook groups too, like Bangkok Expats or something. i know a few people who'd probably take u up on a pixie cut, those arent super common here compared to long styles

The Khao San Road area might be worth hitting up if you want a steady stream of backpackers and travelers passing through. A lot of them are on a budget and open to spontaneous stuff. Just find a spot on one of the quieter soi off the main strip, maybe near the Rambuttri side, and you'll probably get some takers without dealing with the chaos of the main road.

You could try hanging around some of the co-working spaces like HUBBA or The Hive, lot of people there who might be up for a spontaneous haircut between meetings. Also, check out the weekend market areas like Chatuchak, tons of folks walking around who'd probably say yes to a free trim.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
