Where to buy Muay Thai gears in Bangkok?

if you're willing to go a bit further out, the muay thai shops near the old stadium at ratchadamnoen are worth a look. i picked up a pair of twins gloves there for 1500 baht last month, way less than the tourist spots. the shops are a bit no-frills but the stock is legit, mostly stuff fighters actually use. for your coaches, those little keychain punching bags or a set of shin guards from the same place are cheap and thoughtful

honestly if you're around khao san road area there's a few random shops tucked in the alleys that sell decent fairtex knockoffs for like half the price. not the real deal but fine for gifts and training. just check the stitching before u buy

Actionzone on Sukhumvit 24 is still the go-to for decent quality at reasonable prices. They've been there for years and the stock is consistent, you can find Fairtex and Twins there for way less than the fancy branded stuff in malls. For your coaches, grab some hand wraps or a pair of shorts from the same shop, they're cheap enough to buy a bunch and the locals actually use them. SuperExportShop is still around too but I'd hit Actionzone first, better selection for training gear specifically.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
