if you're up for a short walk, try krua apsorn near the old city - it's a bit of a trek from soi 11 but their crab fried rice and the stuffed omelette are legendary and around 200-300 baht. closer by, the issan street food stall on soi 33/1 next to the 7-eleven does a killer laab moo that's properly spicy and like 80 baht, way more authentic than the sit-down places. also don't sleep on the boat noodles at thong smith on sukhumvit 15, their dark broth is rich and the pork belly version is about 300 baht, worth the queue

ngl the best pad thai i've had near soi 11 is at baan pad thai on sukhumvit 31, it's a short motorbike taxi ride away. they do that old school style wrapped in an egg net, around 250-300 baht and the tamarind sauce is properly balanced. if you're craving som tam there's a little cart called som tam nua on soi 5 that does the best papaya salad with salted crab, it's like 80 baht and way better than the stuff on the main road. also the khao soi at on lok yun on soi 11 itself is decent for breakfast, their broth is rich and they give u crispy noodles on top, about 150 baht

skip the main strip tbh, most places on soi 11 itself are overpriced tourist traps. walk over to soi 22 and find baan khanitha, their gaeng kee lek (acacia curry) is unreal and like 400-500 baht a dish. or if u want something quicker, the khao man gai stall at sukhumvit 11 alley near foodland is solid for 60 baht. also check out supanniga eating room on sukhumvit 16, their yam sam krob is a must try and mid range pricing

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
