Best hotels to stay in pattaya beach under $80?

Most hotels are either not that great or too expensive. They're looking for rooms for $60-80 at max per night. Can you guys drop suggestions please?

Try looking slightly inland near Soi Yen Sabai or Soi Chaloem Phrakiat, it's a ten minute walk to the beach but the rooms are bigger for the same money. The Siam @ Siam Design Hotel is a bit over budget at around 2,800 baht, but they run flash sales on their website almost every month, so it's worth checking. For a more straightforward option, the Aya Boutique Hotel on Soi 10 regularly comes in under 2,200 baht and the rooftop pool is a nice spot after a hot day. One tip, since it's low season, ask the front desk for a quieter room facing the pool, the street side rooms can pick up motorbike noise until late.

soi buakhao is prob your best bet but your family should also look at jomtien honestly. it's like 15 min south of pattaya beach by songthaew, but u get way more for 60-80 bucks. the beach is calmer too, less jet ski chaos. places like the jomtien beach residence or the grand jomtien tower have rooms with balconies for around 1,800-2,200 baht a night, and the pool is usually empty.

if they really want to be on pattaya beach itself, tell them to check the older wings of the bigger resorts. the hard rock hotel pattaya sometimes has "garden view" rooms that dip under 2,400 baht in low season, but u have to call the hotel directly and ask for the thai resident rate. that trick works way more often than people think.

also, if they're cool with a hostel-style setup but want private rooms, the pattaya backpacker hostel on soi 8 has private en-suite doubles for like 1,200 baht. it's not fancy but it's spotless and they do a decent breakfast. your family can spend the saved cash on the seafood market near the sanctuary of truth, that's where the real pattaya eating is anyway.

for that price range, check out the hotels around soi 13 and soi 15, closer to the walking street side but still walkable to the beach. the bay beach hotel pattaya has rooms around 2,200 baht a night and it's clean, not fancy but solid. also the siam bayshore resort is a bit older but their garden wing rooms come under 2,500 baht and the pool area is actually pretty nice. if your family wants something with a kitchen, the pattaya posh condos on sois 7-8 have airbnb listings at like 1,500-1,800 baht, and those are great because you can cook some meals and save on food. just avoid the places right on beach road, the noise from the bars and traffic is a nightmare at night. also tell them to book direct if they can, the walk-in price at the front desk is sometimes 10-15% cheaper than online booking, especially this slow season.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
