Hey Reddit!

I'm looking for suggestions on where to meet people from various age groups and with different interests. Here's a list of what I'm interested in:

Long-haired males

Lone wolves

People in their 30s-40s

People in their 40s

Gym lovers

Dog lovers

Volunteering opportunities

Outsiders, weirdos, and passport bros

Matching events (not necessarily romantic)

I'm really bored and want to meet new people with similar interests. Any ideas or recommendations on where to find these groups? Thanks in advance!

ngl the lone wolf and 30s-40s crowd overlaps heavily at the muay thai gyms around on nut. fairtex has a morning session that starts at 6am, mostly older dudes who train alone then grab coffee after, zero small talk energy but they'll share a bag if you show up consistently. for the long-haired and passport bro hybrids, try the vinyl nights at studio lam on saturdays, it's a tiny space off sukhumvit 26, full of misfits in their 40s flipping through crates and nobody cares about your backstory. volunteering wise, the bangkok community theatre off silom sois has set building days where you meet all kinds, from gym rats hauling plywood to dog lovers who bring their pups while painting sets, plus it's free and they feed you.

You could try the rock climbing gyms like Rock Domain on the weekends, lots of gym lovers and solo climbers in their 30s and 40s, and it's easy to just chat people up between routes. For the long-haired and outsider crowd, hang around the weekend market at Chatuchak near the vintage clothing section, you'll find plenty of lone wolf types browsing records and weird art.

if you're into the long-haired and lone wolf scene, there's a spot called the booksmith on sathorn soi 1 that does poetry nights every other thursday. it's a tiny place, mostly expats in their 30s and 40s who show up alone, read something weird, and leave. no one forces you to talk but it's easy to end up at the bar next door after. for gym lovers who also volunteer, there's a weekly park cleanup run by some run clubs on sunday mornings at benjakitti park. you pick up trash for an

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
