Is living outside the sukhumvit asok/watthana area worth it?

Coming to Bangkok for 6 months. Most decent value for money apartments are in lower sukhumvit areas like Bang Na And Lower Phra Khanong. However I've read to avoid these areas since they are far away… Coming to Bangkok for 6 months. Most decent value for money apartments are in lower sukhumvit areas like Bang Na And Lower Phra Khanong. However I've read to avoid these areas since they are far away from everything and its a long BTS ride. Not sure if these areas will feel isolated

Considering I want to explore/party and take a BTS into the nightlife areas, would it be easy to get a taxi/ride app home after midnight when the BTS system has closed?

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
