Currently setting up an online store (Shopify)

Does anyone have suggestions for a good payment gateway? Hopefully reliable one that doesn't charge too much in commissions.

Was looking at 2C2P as I see a lot of places using that but I would appreciate any advice from anyone with first hand experience.

Thank you so much in advance 🙏

honestly just go with opn (omise). their shopify plugin works without issues and their thai support team actually responds within a day. 2c2p's onboarding took me two weeks and they kept asking for documents i already sent

one thing - if you're targeting tourists too, make sure you have a card option. opn handles visa/mastercard fine but their amex rates are higher, like 4.2% last i checked. for locals though, the promptpay qr code is where it's at, most people just scan and pay without even typing in their card details

also check if your bank offers any special rates with these gateways. kasikorn and bangkok bank sometimes have partnerships that knock off 0.5% if you have a business account with them

tbh for Shopify in Thailand, Opn (used to be Omise) is pretty solid. integrates directly with the platform and their API is way cleaner than 2C2P's mess. rates are around 3.5% + 10 baht per transaction which is standard for the market.

2C2P works but their backend feels like it's from 2010. if you're dealing with mostly Thai customers, consider TrueMoney Wallet integration too, a lot of locals prefer that over card payments since credit card penetration here isn't that high.

one thing nobody tells u - make sure whatever gateway you pick supports PromptPay. that's how most Thais actually pay for stuff online these days, QR scan and done. Opn does it natively, 2C2P you need to ask for it

u could check with your bank first. sometimes they have exclusive rates with gateways that aren't advertised online. scb and krungsri have some deals that bring it down to like 2.9% if u push for it

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
