Also love the street food so can't wait to try that. Could you guys leave some of your personal favourite food places, restaurants and places to go?any and all suggestions would really help

fwiw there's a killer spot on soi 11/1 called beirut that does lebanese food and their mixed grill platter is huge, not what you asked for but after a few days of thai food it hits different. for thai specifically i'd walk down to sukhumvit soi 20 and find the little soi 20/1 market, there's a lady there who makes khao kluk kapi (shrimp paste fried rice with toppings) that's easily the best i've had in bangkok, she sets up around 6pm and it's like 50 baht

for steak theres a place called hungry's on soi 8 that does a decent australian ribeye for like 500 baht and their outdoor seating is chill, not fancy but solid. japanese-wise there's a tiny ramen joint on soi 33/1 called bankara that does a really rich tonkotsu broth, it's a chain from japan but the one here is legit, open till late too which helps when you stumble back from the bars

street food wise the soi 38 market everyone mentions is good but honestly the vendors have gotten pricey, i'd grab a grab and go to the wongwian yai area for the best grilled pork skewers and som tum, it's way more local and like half the price

You're in a good spot for variety since Soi 11 has everything from street carts to rooftop bars. For Thai food with ambience, I'd walk over to Sala Rattanakosin on the river if you want views with your green curry, but closer to you there's The Local on Soi 23 which does regional dishes like khao yam in a nice old house. For street food, skip the Sukhumvit 11 stalls entirely and take a short Grab to the Saphan Khwai area for boat noodles at Baan Kuay Tiew Ruea, it's a gritty spot but the broth is leagues ahead of what you'll find around Nana.

For Japanese, there's a tiny place called Muni on Soi 22 that does handmade soba and tempura sets for around 300 baht, much better value than the overhyped spots in Thonglor. Steak-wise, Arno's on Soi 33 is an old-school American diner that does a proper ribeye without the tourist markup, and they have a decent wine list too. Korean you'll want to go to Sukhumvit Plaza near Soi 12, the small basement place called Seoul Kitchen has the best kimchi jjigae in the area and it's cheap.

honestly for authentic thai around soi 11 you're in a bit of a tourist trap zone but walk down to sukhumvit soi 22 and hit up baan khanitha, it's a proper old thai house with nice ambience and their gaeng keow wan gai is solid. for street food tho skip the main road stalls and head to the little soi 22/1 night market area near the end, there's a guy selling moo ping that's way better than the ones on soi 11 itself.

if you want japanese there's a small spot called kurobata on sukhumvit 49 that does really good yakiniku, not too pricey and they have private booths. for steak i'd actually recommend el gaucho on soi 11 if you're lazy to travel, their argentinian cuts are decent but tbh the real gem is the sukhumvit 38 street food area for khao man gai and pad thai, way less crowded than chinatown.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
