Anyone is looking for a local to practice the language with?

I'm a local looking for an English native speaker to exchange languages together.

I'm not a scammer and just please don't keep me at the basement then we can be an exchange language partner and we can hang out sometime.

If you're interested in, please DM me.

Good on you for putting yourself out there. If you want a really low pressure spot to meet, try the outdoor tables at Roast on Ekkamai 12 in the late afternoon. It's a decent mix of locals and expats, and the iced lattes are about 140 baht so no one feels obligated to buy a full meal. Just a heads up, some people on these threads ghost after one chat, so don't take it personally if a few don't follow through.

honestly, this is a solid way to meet people in Bangkok. i've seen a few of these posts work out at places like the Coffee Club near Phrom Phong or just walking around Siam Square. just meet in a busy public spot first, like the food court at Siam Paragon, to keep it chill and safe. good luck finding a partner

i've seen some good language exchange meetups at the art bar on sukhumvit so 33/1, just grab a drink and chat with whoever shows up. maybe try that if dms feel weird

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
