First: airport rail link to petchaburi or to phayathai?

And what then? Travel to menam and take a boat?

How would you do this? I am not used to taking public transport because i live in a small village. Thank you for helping me out.

if you're not used to transit, just grab a taxi from the airport. it's flat rate 50 baht plus meter, usually ends up around 300-400 to rambuttri. skip the rail link and boat combo with luggage, it's a hassle in the heat.

if you do want to try it for the experience, go to phayathai on the rail link then bts to sathorn, orange flag boat to phra athit. but honestly the taxi is worth the extra 300 baht for your first time.

imo the airport rail link is worth it even if ur not used to transit, it's super straightforward. go to phayathai, not petchaburi -- from phayathai u can hop on the bts to sathorn pier (just one stop on the silom line, it's easy). then at sathorn take the orange flag boat north to phra athit pier, which drops u right at khao san area. total cost is like 60 baht vs 400 for a taxi and it's not that much slower tbh

the boat part might seem confusing but just follow the crowd of other tourists doing the same thing, everyone's heading to khao san from the airport this way. just make sure u get on the orange flag boat not the blue tourist one which costs more. if u miss the orange one the yellow flag also stops at phra athit just wait a bit

honestly just take a taxi from the airport straight to khao san, it'll cost like 300-400 baht and save u the headache. the rail link and boat thing is a pain if you're not used to it, especially with luggage.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
