another option is PhotoHolic Thailand on Silom, they're a legit DJI dealer and usually have the newest models. it's a bit out of the way from Mad Monkey but you can take the orange flag boat from Phra Athit pier to Sathorn (15 baht) then walk 5 mins. call ahead to check stock, their english is decent.

if you're short on time, Lazada or Shopee with next-day delivery to the hostel might work, just filter for official DJI stores. plenty of sellers offer cash on delivery so you don't need a thai card. just make sure you're there to receive the package since they won't leave it with reception

honestly, the closest proper drone shop to Mad Monkey is probably Big Camera or Fotofile at CentralWorld. it's about a 15-20 min walk or a quick 50 baht motorbike taxi from Khao San area. they usually carry DJI but the Avata 2 might not be on display yet since it's pretty new.

if you don't find it there, head to Fortune Town on Rama 9. that's the main tech mall for drones and camera gear. take the MRT from Sanam Chai to Phra Ram 9, about 30 mins, 50 baht. there's a few shops on the 4th floor like Banana IT and Camera mall that stock everything. just make sure you have cash or a Thai bank transfer, some places don't take card

If you're in a rush, there's a DJI store at Siam Paragon on the 4th floor near the food court. It's about a 15 minute taxi from Khao San, maybe 100 baht with the meter. They usually have the latest stock and the staff speak English well enough to help you set it up.

One thing to watch out for - if you buy it at a mall, check the box seals before paying. Some shops repack display units if stock is low, especially with new releases. And keep the receipt handy for customs when you fly out to Koh Phangan, they sometimes ask about drones at the domestic gates.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
