I'm moving to Bangkok from New York in 7 days!!!

I have a small amount saved up, but I will need to start making money.

I do have an English degree from a top 20 uni in the States if that helps. (That I've never used btw)

Obviously, teaching english would be the best. But, where would I do it? Should I look online? Where? I was thinking Preply, but I have no idea.

Thanks :)

Your degree opens up copywriting or editing work at agencies like Vogue or Ogilvy if you want to stay in a professional setting. The pay is decent and you get to use your brain more than in a classroom.

For quick cash, hit up the expat-heavy bars on Khao San Road. Some need English speakers for their social media or menus, and they'll pay you in cash under the table to start tomorrow. Just walk in with a laptop and offer to fix their signs.

honestly skip the online stuff for now. Preply is oversaturated and you'll spend weeks building a profile. Walk into some of the smaller tutoring places near Thong Lo or Ekkamai, they pay cash and don't care about certs as long as you sound American. I know a guy who walked into a place called Banana Thai on Sukhumvit 38 and started the next day.

the real money trick nobody talks about is corporate English. Companies around Asok or Sathorn will pay 800-1000 baht an hour for private lessons with their execs. Just put a flyer up at a coworking space like The Hive or Glowfish, you'll get calls.

also your degree is good for content writing gigs. Check the Bangkok Creative District facebook group, tons of startups need someone to rewrite their English and they pay way better than teaching. Just don't mention you've never used it, fake it til you make it.

Yeah you could try Preply but honestly just walking into a language center in Bangkok like ECC or AUA might get you a job faster since they're always looking for native speakers. There's also the international school route but those usually want a teaching cert.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
