Best bank to ask for loan?

As per title I need to ask for a loan. I currently have two accounts with KTB and SCB. What's the best bank in terms of interest and easiness for a loan. honestly if you already have salary accounts with ktb or scb, stick with them. they'll see your cash flow and approval is way smoother than going somewhere new. ktb tends to be a bit more lenient with personal loans, scb can be picky but sometimes offers better rates for existing customers. just walk into your home branch and ask for a "special rate" directly, the staff can usually adjust things a bit if you've been with them a while

ngl if you're looking at loan amounts over 500k, try applying at both and see who gives you a better limit. ktb's mobile app lets you check your pre-approved loan amount without a hard credit check, scb requires you to talk to a human first. also worth noting that scb has better branch hours in bangkok if you need to do paperwork in person, their main ones in silom and sathorn stay open til 6pm on weekdays

if you're not in a huge rush, maybe check government banks like gsb or baac if you qualify. their rates are usually lower than commercial banks, like 5-7% flat vs ktb's 9-12% depending on your tier. the tradeoff is more paperwork and slower processing, but for a bigger loan amount it's worth the hassle. i'd also ask ktb about their "green loan" or eco-product if you're buying something energy-efficient, they sometimes have promos with 0.5% less interest

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
