Any BKK recommendations for iced coffee that's similar to Shaken Latte from Roast8ry in Chiangmai?

Factory Coffee near Ari BTS has a similar nitrogen-infused cold brew that's got that same smooth, creamy texture without the sweetness overload. They do a Shaken Espresso too but it's more citrus-forward than Roast8ry's version. If you're in Siam, Gallery Drip Coffee on Soi 2 makes a mean iced latte with single-origin beans where you can really taste the difference from the mass-produced stuff.

try roots at the roastery near thong lo bts exit 3, they do a "shaken dirty" that's basically a double ristretto shaken with ice and a splash of oat milk. it's 110 baht and comes out super frothy without being watery like some iced drinks. the barista there told me they use a medium roast from chiang rai which gives it a lighter body than roast8ry but the texture is spot on. if you're in old town, craft on ratchadamnoen has a honey iced latte that's not exactly shaken but the honey adds a similar depth without making it sweet

If you're after that specific creamy, aerated texture, try Pacamara on Sukhumvit 49. Their "Cloudy Latte" uses a similar flash-brew technique over ice that gives it that thick, velvety head without being overly milky. It's about 120 baht and they roast their own beans, so the flavour profile is more nuanced than the chain spots. Also worth checking out is Kaizen's sister shop at the Commons, they do a double-shot iced latte with their own house blend that's got that same smooth finish, just less sweet.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
