NBA Finals Viewing Event?

Looking to watch the NBA Finals live in Bangkok, but it starts at 6:30 AM here in Thailand. Does anyone know any places that are hosting a watch party? If you're willing to venture off Sukhumvit, try The Dubliner on Soi 22. They've opened early for big matches before and the staff there are pretty good about updating their Facebook page a day or two ahead with screening times. Also worth a look is the sports section of CentralWorld, some of the bars on the upper floors do early morning showings, though it's more of a mall vibe than a proper pub. Either way, I'd message them on Line the night before, that's the quickest way to get a straight answer here.

honestly the sports bars on soi 11 are hit or miss with early starts, but i've had better luck at the sportsman pub on soi 13. they've done 6am screenings for the nba before and the breakfast menu is solid. if that fails, try the pig and whistle on soi 13 too, they're pretty reliable for live sports but call a day before to confirm they got the rights this year.

Try the rooftop sports bars near Soi 11, they get a decent crowd for early NBA games and the view makes the 6 AM wake up worth it. Also, a lot of the hostels around Khao San will put games on in their common areas if you buy a drink, not a proper watch party but it's a chill vibe.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
