I know someone who recently came back and they said it was really humid which I could still live with but I'll have to try and sort out an indoor itinerary if it's raining during my entire trip. I'm only in Bangkok for 5 days.

It says there is a 50-60% chance of rain every day.

Could anyone suggest any indoor activities if it is likely to rain the whole time?

yeah that other reply is spot on about the afternoon showers being short. honestly the humidity is the bigger issue than the rain itself. you'll be sweating through your shirt walking between malls

for indoor stuff, i'd spend a day at terminal 21 asok just wandering the floors each one is themed like a different city and the food court on the top floor is stupid cheap. also icon siam has this insane indoor floating market on the ground floor that's way more comfortable than the real one in the heat. both are connected to the bts so you barely step outside

honestly the forecast numbers are misleading here. 50-60% chance means scattered showers not constant rain, you'll prob get one or two heavy bursts then it's done. the humidity is the real beast, feels like walking through soup

if you want indoor stuff that's not just malls, check out the museum of contemporary art up near chatuchak. it's a bit out of the way but the building itself is cool and the permanent collection is solid. another option is the jam factory in klong san, it's a creative space with cafes and studios under one roof, plus the thai craft fair is sometimes there on weekends

for a rainy afternoon hit up china town's yaowarat for the old school shophouses that have covered walkways. you can duck in and out of herbal shops and eat at the stalls under awnings. just bring an umbrella for the gaps

it's pretty normal for bkk this time of year tbh. the 50-60% usually means a short downpour in the afternoon for like an hour then it clears up. you'll be fine walking around most of the day.

if you do get stuck indoors, the bangkok art & culture centre near siam is free and has cool rotating exhibits. also check out the river city shopping complex for antique shops and a gallery, plus you can hop on a river taxi when it stops raining

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
