How much would that cost? All tips and tricks welcome. Wishing you a lovely day

the thai-japanese complex is good but honestly for the summer i'd look at the courts at klong toei's banthat thong road area, there's a small club behind the old port that most tourists never find. it's open air but has those big industrial fans, and the coach there, kru noom, used to play futures level, he's super patient with technique. runs about 700 baht an hour all in, and he'll do a monthly flat rate if u commit to 4 sessions a week, think it's like 8k baht for the month, which is a steal vs the fancy places

the real tip is to grab a cheap re-usable rain cover for ur bag, the sudden afternoon storms will soak everything in like 2 minutes, and most courts don't have lockers. also the line app is everything here, every club runs their schedule through it, so set up ur account before u land and u can message multiple places to compare availability without calling

If you want to avoid the rain entirely, the indoor courts at the Thai-Japanese Sports Complex in Din Daeng are your best bet. They have a few air-conditioned courts that stay booked solid with expats and locals, so you'll want to message their Line account at least a week ahead for June. Coaching there runs about 1,000 baht per hour including court time, and the pros are mostly former university players who keep things technical rather than casual.

One thing nobody mentions is the racket string situation in the rainy season. Humidity wrecks strings faster than you'd expect, so budget for a restring every two weeks if you're playing 4-5 hours weekly. Most clubs charge 400-600 baht for a basic synthetic gut job, but the pro shop at the Sports Authority of Thailand near Hua Mak is cheaper and they do it same day. Bring your own strings if you have a preference, the local options are limited to a few brands.

For scheduling, most coaches will do a block of 10 sessions at a 15-20% discount if you pay upfront. That's the move for a 6-8 week stay, it locks you in and they'll prioritize your slots over walk-ins. Just ask for the "package rate" and don't be shy about negotiating, some clubs are flexible in the low season since June is quieter for tourism.

check out lydia tennis academy near thong lo, they do booking per hour with pros who speak english fine. courts are decent and they have evening slots which helps with the heat. think it runs around 800-1200 baht an hour with the coach, depends on level

if u want cheaper, try the national tennis development center at huamark, more of a local vibe but coaches are solid. u can do 3 sessions a week easy, just message them on line a few days ahead. bring ur own racquet, strings are pricey there

june-july is rainy season so book mornings or 6pm+, afternoon courts get abandoned fast when it pours. also most places do monthly memberships if ur here 6 weeks, saves like 20%

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
