Hair salon recommendations?

I'm looking for a salon in Bangkok that does great hair coloring services. But not too expensive but still a good quality service? I'm looking for a salon in Bangkok that does great hair coloring services. But not too expensive but still a good quality service?

I'd check out Niche in Ekkamai. They speak good English and the colorists actually listen to what you want instead of just doing their own thing. A full balayage runs around 3000 baht and the toner stays vibrant for weeks. They're on the second floor of the Ekkamai 10 building, easy to miss if you're not looking for the sign.

honestly, if you want good color without tourist prices check out N.N.Y. hair studio near Phra Khanong BTS. their balayage starts around 2500 baht which is solid for the quality. i've had hit or miss with the super cheap places on Sukhumvit soi 11 so better to spend a bit more there. just book ahead on Line since they get busy

smile studio in thonglor does really good japanese coloring techniques, it's about 3000 for a full color with olaplex treatment included. they're on the small soi off thonglor 5, pretty hidden but the color holds way longer than most places i've tried

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
