Anyone know where my best bet might be? I thought southeast pharmacy near Sukhumvit 11 would have it but nope. Thanks.

on Nut is actually decent for this. there's a cluster of pharmacies along Sukhumvit 77/On Nut soi 1 near the market, and a couple of them order from Greater Pharma directly if you ask. i'd walk in with a photo of the box and ask them to special order, not just "do you have it."

one thing nobody mentioned, the FDA Thailand drug database lets you check which pharmacies are licensed to dispense it by area. the local brand is often listed as venlafaxine by Greater Pharma rather than Valosine on the paperwork, so shops sometimes don't recognize the name. brings the price down to like 400-600 baht for a strip of 10 depending on dose.

if u strike out at pharmacies, the hospital route that actually works is the outpatient pharmacy at ramathibodi or siriraj, they dispense greater pharma stuff and a walk-in with a foreign script is usually fine, cheaper than bumrungrad by a lot. the catch is the queue, go early like 7am. also the venlafaxine xr from greater pharma comes in 37.5 and 75 only, so if ur on 150 ur taking two tabs, factor that into the price math

Valosine is made by Greater Pharma, and most small pharmacies won't stock it because the margin's thin. Your best bet is a hospital pharmacy, Bumrungrad and Samitivej both carry it, but you'll pay a premium and might need a local script. Cheaper route is to ask a pharmacy to special order it from their wholesaler, takes 2-3 days, try the independent ones around Phra Khanong market rather than the chain shops on Sukhumvit.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
