Mangosteen, prices, 3 kilos for 100 baht or 299/baht per kilo? :)

Walking around yesterday

1)truck on Yaorowarat - 3 kilos/100 baht

2) 15 steps away - tourist street selling same 100/baht per kiloe

4) my local fruit market 59/baht per kilo

So in season prices vary all over the place - and what was most surprising was that walking literally 2 minute made a 3x difference in price.

Also noticed some big price swings for durian. (edit: yes durian has many different species but I was referring to the same species and grade which I have seen from 59 baht/100gm to 199 baht/100 gm recently - clearly there is an oversupply of some at the moment)

Well, I love mangosteen and can't get them where I live so I'm overindulging and having a great time!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
