7-Eleven doorbell?

honestly your best bet is to just buy one of the actual doorbells they sell at 7-Eleven here. they call it the "7-Eleven Welcome Chime" and it's like 250 baht at most branches. i've seen them by the counter near the snacks, just ask the staff "khon hai kradook" they'll know what u mean.

if u can't get to a 7 in person, try lazada or shopee, search "7-11 doorbell" and it'll pop up. about 300 baht shipped. the sound is exactly the same as the store ones, your friend's customers will lose their minds hearing it in the US

I've seen them at the big electronics stores too, like Power Buy or Banana IT. They usually have a little 7-Eleven section near the novelty gadgets, and it's the same 250 baht chime.

ngl your best bet is buying from the staff themselves sometimes they sell the old ones when they upgrade. i got one for 100 baht from the 7 near my condo, just asked the cashier if they had any broken ones lying around and they gave me one that still worked. tell

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
