Anyone here got a lease from Toyota Kinto before, is it possible to negotiate the monthly rate or it's pretty much set?

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

one thing nobody mentioned yet is timing around the model year switch. when the new Yaris Ativ or whatever facelift drops, the outgoing stock on Kinto often gets a lower monthly for the same tier, they need to clear the fleet. i got quoted 2k less a month on a 2023 model back in Feb just by waiting a few weeks. also if you're a returning customer or you refer someone they have a referral credit that stacks, ask at the counter cos they won't volunteer it

tbh the thing people miss is that Kinto bundles insurance and road tax into the monthly, so comparing it to a normal lease rate is apples to oranges. if you already have your own insurance or a no-claims bonus you're basically paying for coverage you won't use. worth asking if they do a version without the insurance package, some branches will quote it separately. also check the buyout option at the end, the residual is set upfront and that's where the real cost hides.

the monthly is set but the deposit tier is where u can actually move things. if u go from the standard 1 month down payment to like 3 or 4 months upfront they drop the rate a bit, not huge but maybe 1-2k a month on a yaris ativ. also ask about the 12 vs 24 vs 36 month terms, the shorter ones sometimes have promos around songkran & year end. the Rama IX branch quoted me differently than the one at Mega Bangna for the same car so worth calling two or three

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
