Bangkok hotel pools for sunset?

Sometimes I feel like I wanna just sit by the pool and get a tan / watch the sunset. Do you know any hotel pools, preferably nearby, that are facing the correct direction?

I bought a daypass at the skyview hotel but it's also not facing the right side for sunset views, and the midday sun just scorches me immediately lol so looking for other options.

(Doesn't have to be a hotel but anywhere they offer passes/membership)

Have you checked out the pool at the Fraser Suites on Sukhumvit Soi 11? It's a bit of a walk or a quick motorbike ride from Phrom Phong, but the pool deck faces west and you get golden hour over the whole Asok skyline. They do a day pass for around 800 baht, and it's usually pretty quiet on weekday afternoons.

Try the pool at the Marriott Marquis Queen's Park. It's a short walk from Phrom Phong, on the other side of Sukhumvit Soi 22, and the deck faces west so you get actual sunset light. They do a day pass for around 1,200 baht that includes access to the pool and gym, plus you can order drinks from the pool bar. The pool itself is decently sized and never feels as crowded as the ones at the big malls.

The Okura Prestige is a bit further up on Wireless Road but their infinity pool faces west and has unreal sunset views over the city. They don't really do day passes like the bigger hotels, but you can book a spa treatment or just grab a drink at the pool bar and nobody bothers you.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
