Any Tennis Shops that let customers demo rackets before buying?

However, there are so many choices of different brands and specs, and I'm not able to be sure which brand and model will be suitable for me. (I'm fascinated by Babolat Pure Aero 98, but how if it's not one that fits my playing..) I've heard that in many countries there are shops which offer demo programs, where you can try the rackets for a few minutes before deciding to buy one. Is there anything like that in Bangkok? I tried googling around with no luck.

If you're near the Ekamai area, check out Sports Mall on Sukhumvit 63. They've got a demo program where you can put down a refundable deposit and take a racket to the court at Ekamai Tennis Center just across the street for a proper hit, not just a wall. The selection leans heavily toward Babolat and Yonex, which works out since you're eyeing the Pure Aero 98. Just call ahead to make sure the demo racket you want isn't already out, the guy who runs the tennis section there is named Khun Pong and he's pretty straightforward about which frames actually suit local playing styles.

most tennis shops in bangkok do let you demo if you ask, but they won't advertise it. head over to tennis pro at central world, they have a few babolat demos including the pure aero 98, just bring your own overgrip. the staff there are pretty chill about letting you hit on their practice wall for 10-15 minutes if it's not busy. another option is pro tennis on sathorn, they're more old school but will let you take a racket to the nearby court for a quick hit if you leave a deposit

Tennis World on Sukhumvit Soi 49 is worth a visit for this. They have a small hitting cage in the back where you can test out frames, and the owner is a stringer who actually plays so he'll give you honest feedback on your swing style. Just be aware they don't carry every brand, mostly Yonex and Babolat, so if you're curious about Wilson or Head you'd need to go elsewhere. The demo rackets are usually strung with basic synthetic gut, so keep that in mind when you're testing feel.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
