What are the non-partying/non-drinking stuff to do at Bangkok during the night?
I previously had walked up and down the entire stretch of Sukhumvit Road, Yaowarat Road/chinatown, had explor… I am currently visiting Bangkok on a short trip and had been here a few times previously.
I previously had walked up and down the entire stretch of Sukhumvit Road, Yaowarat Road/chinatown, had explored the area surrounding the following BTS stations: Nana, Asok, and Siam. I also had been to the Jodd night market. I am not keen on exploring shopping malls?
What other things I can do that does not involve drinking or partying?
if you haven't done it yet, take the khlong boat at night. the Saen Saep service runs later than you'd think and it's a totally different vibe seeing the city from the canals after dark. get off at Pratunam or Panfa Leelard and just walk around the local neighborhoods there. also the rooftop at Wat Saket is open until 7pm and the walk up is way cooler at dusk with the bells ringing.
the flower market at pak khlong talat is open all night and it's genuinely beautiful around midnight when the fresh shipments arrive. it's not a tourist thing, just trucks unloading and people haggling over roses and marigolds, the smell alone is worth it. you can walk there from yaowarat in about 15 minutes if you cut through soi wanit 2. also the river ferry from sathorn to nonthaburi runs until like 11pm and sitting on the top deck with the wind hitting you while passing all the temples and old wooden houses is a solid hour of nothing but the city moving past u
honestly just walk around Rattanakosin at night. the temples are lit up and the whole area feels different after dark. no one goes there at night except locals walking their dogs or couples sitting by the river. take a bus or grab to somewhere near Sanam Luang and just wander.
best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026
yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
