In trying my best to be polite and make small talk and chit chat, asked the last couple what they do for a living, they said they are internet influencers.
What is an Influencer? How do they make money in Thailand doing this?

honestly the term gets thrown around a lot here but in bangkok it usually means someone with 10k+ followers who gets free stuff or cash to post. the thai friend group i know in thong lo all have friends who do it and the money comes from brand sponsorships or affiliate links, some do paid shoutouts for restaurants around sukhumvit area. the bigger ones with 100k+ followers can pull in 50k baht a month easy just from instagram stories and tiktok clips.
yeah so basically they make content on instagram/tiktok and brands pay them to feature stuff. in bangkok it's pretty common for cafes, hotels, and restaurants to offer free meals or stays in exchange for posts. some of the bigger ones charge 20k-100k baht per post depending on their follower count
a lot of thai influencers also do live selling on facebook or tiktok where they hawk products in real time and get commission on sales. it's a legit career here, some make way more than office jobs
It's basically someone who gets paid to post about products or lifestyles online. Over here, a lot of them do brand deals on Instagram or TikTok for local companies.
