does anyone have a rec for 1-2 month luxury apt in Asoke?

thanks so much 😭 😭 😭

tbh if you're here 1 to 2 months and might stay, skip the serviced apartment route entirely and look at a monthly rental through one of the big agents like CBRE or Knight Frank. they handle furnished units in the Exchange and Ashton towers right on Sukhumvit 21, and a 2 month deal is negotiable if you pay upfront. downside is you'll need a work permit or at least a visa that doesn't scream tourist, some landlords get weird about it. otherwise Fraser Suites on Soi 11 is a short hop away and way less hassle for a first landing.

the Citadines and Somerset spots are solid but they fill up fast in summer so book early. one thing nobody mentions: a lot of the newer condo buildings around Asok Montri and Soi 23 will do a 2 month lease if you go through a Thai agent on the ground rather than a website, they just wont advertise it. expect to pay a bit over the monthly rate as a short term premium, maybe 10-15%.

if you want quiet, look at the soi 20 side near the MRT exit, the Sukhumvit-facing towers get the BTS noise all day.

Been living around Asoke for 3 yrs now so heres my take. The Exchange and Ashton are nice but honestly overpriced for what u get, and the traffic on Sukhumvit 21 at rush hour is brutal. Check out the older low rises tucked on Soi 23 and Soi 19, places like Baan Kasemsan or the small buildings off Asok Montri, theyre cheaper and the owners are way more flexible on 1-2 month stays if u show up in person and pay cash upfront. Also worth knowing: Songkran in April and the summer months mean a lot of owners have empty rooms and will knock 20% off without u even asking twice. Expect around 30-45k for a decent furnished one bed, wifi and cleaning usually included.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
