Don Don Donki - what should I try?

Could you tell me what your favourite things are at this store? And what would you always buy when there?

Thanks

the thai basil pork gyoza from the frozen section are actually pretty solid, way better than the chicken ones. for cosmetics i always grab the baby foot peel masks, they're cheaper than at sephora and actually work. if you're near the thong lor branch the fresh fruit section has those giant kyoho grapes that are like 300b but totally worth it. the matcha kit kats are fine but honestly overhyped, i'd skip those

Skip the prepared food section and head straight to the frozen aisle for the cheese curry korokke, they crisp up perfectly in an air fryer or pan. For cosmetics, the collagen sheet masks in the pink pack are a steal at around 150 baht and leave your skin noticeably plumper. The Thong Lo branch has a dedicated sake section where you can grab a small bottle of the yuzu-infused one for under 400 baht, it's a nice souvenir. I wouldn't bother with the fresh sushi, it's fine but nothing special compared to what you'd get at a proper Japanese spot nearby.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
