What happened to Foodpanda?

yeah the priority option got quietly pulled from a lot of accounts a few weeks back, i noticed the same on mine around the start of the month. the stamp thing isnt gone exactly, they moved it into some pandapro tier thing so if ur not subscribed u basically stop earning. the double delivery stacking is real too, theyre pushing riders to take batched orders now so a single som tam run turns into a 40 min tour of silom. grab is doing the same tbh, its not just panda bleeding drivers

the batching thing is coming from their new zone routing, not driver shortage. i know a couple riders in Lat Phrao, they get penalized in the app if they decline stacked jobs so they just take them. thats why your khao pad shows up cold from a place 2km away.

fwiw if you want it fast again just order direct from the restaurant on LINE or call them, a lot of the thai spots on Sukhumvit 38 and around Ari still do their own delivery for 20-30 baht. panda is turning into a marketplace for the big chains now, the small shops are bailing.

i stopped using it after they killed the free delivery over 200b thing, that was the only reason i bothered. now if i want panda i just check the promo tab first cos sometimes theres a flat 50 off code that makes it worth it, otherwise its grab or walk to the corner

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
